Are there any rural areas close by the City of LA where there are hardly any neighbors nosing in your business, a quiet environment, and hardly any drama that urban cities have?

You can find places near Agoura and Calabasas, Malibu Canyon, Hidden Valley is a favorite of mine, Topanga Canyon is nice also. Other areas you could consider is Ventura County in the Moorpark area or Somis Area. Depends what you mean by close by LA though. If you want to venture further out their are places off the 126 that you could look into. Plenty of ranch areas or homes on acreage near Fillmore, Santa Paula or even Piru. I just saw a 360+ acre place near Fillmore with 30 acres of avocados selling for $1,750,000. No one would bother you there.

You might consider some of the mountain neighborhoods: Gorman, or near Mt Baldy.

La Habra Heights (LA County) officially states that is is "rural living in the city." And it is.
