My other thread was locked, I'm not sure why.

Let's discuss Los Angeles's last great industry. Is it still great and thriving, or did it fall with the rest of it?

Does anybody know about any LA porn forums open for discussion or useful links?

This is my only reason for coming to Los Angeles, a place where so much is failing right now. Is the business still alive, especially in the SF Valley like everyone says it is? Can you still find a job as a simple walk-in if you have the credentials?

Here's an interesting question. Has the state of California taken any steps to regulate the industry? Steps that would drive it underground or out of California? Steps like forcing condoms to be used, and drug tests on actors, etc....

I'm not a big fan of TheYoungTurks youtube news, especially the main jagoff hosting every episode. But here's an interesting discussion on the matter here in Los Angeles.

I can't see how the above mentioned safety precautions would force the business underground. In ANY work place employees should have the right to ensure that their health is protected. What's the problem with condoms and drug tests? If viewers of porn do not like to see a condom being used I suggest they first be willing to put THEIR lives and health on the line for the entertainment of others.

I can't see the government attempting to drive it out of the state or underground. If people want it they'll get it. The internet and easy availability to porn probably has a lot to do with less work available the "old fashioned way." For some strange reason adult anime and manga seem to be gaining popularity. I just don't see it. Cartoon porn characters instead of living, breathing people? Go figure!

I'm not that naive as I've been around the block, dated various types of women, have been exposed to the drug scene and overall have a pretty realistic view on how the world works. But my god where the hell does the porn industry get all these young beautiful women to do all the work? I mean porn has gotten 1000x better as far as what type of women are working in the industry. Take for example the guys that run BangBros. I mean 99% of those women who are in the films/clips are not just hot but beautiful. And most are YOUNG! Do all these women come from broken families? No self confidence/respect? Are they all into drugs?

I mean it's one thing to star in an adult movie but some of the degrading, disgusting acts these girls are doing is just crazy.

I don't think just one answer can sum up all these women. Each and every one has a different story, background and reason for going into this line of work. What really astounds me is how other women will look down on porn actresses and prostitutes for getting paid to have sex, yet will encourage their female friends into some of the most irresponsible sexual escapades. I can't judge another woman for making the choice to use what to her might be her only marketable asset in order to survive.

It's easy money. I would agree. But still there's more to it than that.

Is there anyone on this forum who's actually had experience in pornography who can comment?

Anyone know if chlamydia and gonorrhea run as rampant as the statistics on TheYoungTurks are claiming?

The economy has a great deal to do with it. And even in better times there are always women in need of money.
