It's OK to not know what you want to do with the rest of your life. You don't have to make an irreversible decision right this minute. Whatever you end up doing, the training, experience, discipline and general knowledge you pick up in college can only help you in your future career.

Go to school. Get a degree. Get to know yourself a little better. If it turns out that acting isn't exactly what you want to do for a living, it's best to find out that your interests lie elsewhere while you're in an environment that lets you explore those interests. If you still want to act, your degree offers you a better chance at arriving in L.A. with the skills and the network you need to make a living at doing what you love.

Honestly, the people on this particular thread haven't been that bad. I've read a few other ones, though, that just horrified me.

People would say stuff like "Have fun laying on your back!" and stuff like that. Just cruel, in my opinion. It felt gleeful more than anything else.

Also, the girl is 18 years old. Not a 16 year old runaway... there IS a difference! That being said, $2000 is NOT enough to move out here.

Substitute "Atlanta" for "Hollywood" here and add heroin/meth addiction, and we then have the likely reality for dreamy wayward kids floundering around the town's sidewalks wondering what they're supposed to do once they get there.

@pacific2
Ok you've convinced me...... Where is this girl from, Powder Springs? Where is that? And I thought that all the porn was produced in the valley.
Maybe she would well, strippers are always in demand . Now I'm being mean!

Default Negative Nancys!

I registered purely to comment here because you people made me so darn mad. This post is probably super old, but if the OP is reading this- DON'T LISTEN TO THEM! Yes. It's difficult. Duh? But completely doable and REAL artists do it all the time. I say "real artists" because those are the ones who aren't blowing their money away on nights out and clothes because they're serious about making it as an artist. I came here with $3,000 and no car. I now have a car and am making a living doing any gig I can get and apartment managing. The apartment managing thing was dumb luck... which is awesome. But when you work hard for what you want the luck comes to you. Just keep on going and forget these guys. Just don't become another "actor" who hasn't been to an audition in months and spends his/her nights in the bars complaining about how "impossible" it is to make it.
