I would like to know if anyone knows about the housing programs funds being low for section 8 participants? it's so low that there is talk of the program ending. I fear that the program will end soon because they had to make drastic cut-backs to keep the program in progress. I am encouraged by friends and family to leave california asap because the goverment is not inform us that the program is ending in time to port out of the city. The goverment will not gonna inform us because they need us here as taxpayers for the city of los angeles and we will be a disadvantage. I am a single mother and I can't afford for the program to end and leave me and my son defenseless against this economy. please comment and let me know if you have any info regarding this matter asap I must make a decision soon. Thank You!

LA County has closed its Section 8 Waiting List, but who knows what will happen to those already enrolled? News and Events
You know what’s best for your situation, but if you can find a job in another city where the cost of living (including rent) is less than it is in LA, why not make the move; especially if you have family support?

I doubt that they will totally eliminate the program since landlords and developers also benefit from it, and they can probably lobby to keep it in place. Slightly OT, but I wonder what possible effects housing assistance cutbacks will have on the Irvine rental/purchase markets since so many units within larger developments, are subsidized?

“Do you qualify for an affordable rental housing program?
Many affordable rental housing programs exist in order to reduce the rents of those who qualify. These programs are contingent on income level and, in many cases, size of household. “

Section 8 is a federally funded program, so I doubt it will disappear completely unless the whole program is scrapped.

The HCLA phone number is 213-252-2500.

Thank you to those that have offered good advice for me I did call them and they don't know what would happen in the event the program ended because
it has never happened before. To those that would be ignorant enough to assume that every person takes advantage of this program STOP!! that's very
horrible to think this program is helping me to attend college so I can get off the program and provide a better life for me and my child!

Yeah, who wants to pay their own way? Its much better to depend on the taxpayer for basic necessities.
