Hi!

I have a few questions for those who have already done the Santa Monica Ferris Wheel in winter (say December). I know it can get very rainy, but is it also cold (like windy) when you're up in a gondola? Would a jacket be enough to keep warm?

As far as I know once you start going up, the wheel stops one time for tourists to get on the wheel. Is this true?

Any other details about your experience would be appreciated.
Thank you and sorry if this question has already been posted, I couldn't find any specific answers in my search.

The OP is asking for general information about the Ferris wheel and the weather conditions in winter, not expecting to be able to hop on the ride today.

OP, I don't have personal experience with this attraction, but December weather is likely to be cool, and yes, you will feel more wind when you are up higher. At the same time, I can't imagine that you would need anything more than a warm jacket, and maybe not even that, depending on the time of day and the exact weather conditions. A winter coat, gloves, hat etc. are almost certainly not necessary.

That's what I thought, too, in terms of clothes and weather. I did a few google searches but I'm not a local.

Thank you very muck!

I'm not planning to go, I'm doing research for my book (sorry, I think I forgot to mention this).

It's always better to write about places you know and things you've done, but that's not always possible.

They need to reopen the pier so KCAL news can get their lame, "Oooh, look at the people on the pier" shots for the weather segments.

First off... it’s hardly “rainy” in December in Santa Monica. The average temp in December is between 65/51 degrees. I would suggest a jacket or sweater. Wind isn’t much of an issue. It can get foggy at times. I lived in SM for 7 years until last October.

Anywhere by the beach is cold AF in the winter. It may say it's 60 at night, or even 55 at night, but when you incorporate the effects of moisture in the air in feels like it's in the high 40's.
