Just like this morning's Chatsworth quake was tagged as 4.5, now it's 4.6.
Just for conspiracy theorists, I remember when the 94 quake was slightly downgraded. I may have my numbers screwed up but technically a 6.9 is not a major quake, it is a moderate quake. There were theories that the quake was downgraded for insurance company (or FEMA???) purposes, I forgot......doesn't make sense though as those who had insurance got their money (right?) My parents had to move out of their Canoga Park home for a few months, covered by insurance.

The '94 was orginally a 6.6 quake. After analyzing more data, it was updated to a 6.7.

Seismologically speaking, quakes in the 6-magnitude bracket 6.0-6.9) are "moderate," the 7 bracket is "major," and the 8 bracket is "great."

I wasn't asleep yet - long night with painting issues, ugh. (Don't use painter's tape with semi-gloss paint - ackk). Why, why, why are these always when I'm in my bed? That makes them feel much worse. Or maybe it's the box springs. I wonder what it would feel like on a Tempur-Pedic? LOL.

The Loma Prieta one I was in the shower. My neighbors ran out screaming from their homes. I finished my shower and went to work - I was the only one who showed up.

The Northridge one I almost fell out of bed in my loft in my 3rd floor apartment in Hermosa Beach. Beach people are so blase. No one screamed or even left their apartments. A co-worker didn't show up for work for a week - he took his wife and baby up to his folks' in Canada. As I was chiding him over the phone, he asked, with all seriousness, "Don't you think that was rather severe?"

ROTFL...

Look around, you'll notice some people always have the worst possible spin for things.

(Not saying they are right or wrong, but if you read you can tell who the Doom'n'Gloomâ„¢ folks are...)

Hadn't noticed, but I've noticed a few posters who are overly optimistic.
