I don't, considering there hasn't been any recent news about gang violence. Most crimes these days are non-gang related. Gangs are now spread across the whole USA, especially in large cities like New York, Chicago, Philadelphia, Memphis, Houston, etc.

Does anyone else think Los Angeles lost it's title as the Gang Capital of the Nation, since gangs are so spread out now?

Everyone across the world is mocking Los Angeles gang culture. From gang whistles, gang signs, hand stacking, gang slang, hood tags, crip walks, blood walks, hit em up (where you from), color banging, dress code, drive by shootings ect.

New York has Grape Street Crips, Hoover Crips, Shotgun Crips, Kitchen Crips, Rollin 60s, Rollin 30s, Blood Stone Villains, Mara Salvatrucha ect. Which are all Los Angeles homegrown gangs, same with all those other places Houston, Dallas, Memphis, Atlanta, Phoenix, Salt Lake City, Miami, Cleveland, St. Louis, Oklahoma City, New Jersey all have LA based gangs that we're either "brought" out there or copied off the Internet or the TV.

South Central L.A. still has 100-200 murders every year, which are all gang related.

My answer would be no. And NONE of the above, per capita, would confirm any city of similar size, as a capitol of any kind of crime. Im not saying a proportionate amount of crime would not be a cause for concern. But as if L.A. is some small town of 15 square miles? really?? But you are accurate in stating that most of the activity has moved beyond L.A. county. And if that is the case, then incidents would certainly have to have calmed down from 1980-90's levels.

Southern California is probably the top gang region, but Chicago is the top gang city.

Suburbanization of gangs began in SoCal much earlier than it did in IL, so in SoCal it's more spread out now.

Quite true. Santa Clarita even has gangs now.

Not really. Gangs are a fraction of what they were 15-20 years ago. They aren't gone, but their numbers are definitely way down from their peak. And the ones left aren't as active either.

Folks in and around Missouri will tell you that L.A. exported their gangs to Kansas City and St. Louis (the nation's most violent city). They're not terribly pleased.
