Board approves station names for Gold Line Foothill Extension | Metro's The Source
Board approves station names for Expo Line Phase 2 | Metro's The Source

First, Expo Phase 2 to Santa Monica, the stations after Culver City will be:

-Palms
-Westwood/Rancho Park
-Expo/Sepulveda
-Expo/Bundy
-26th Street/Bergamot
-17th Street/Santa Monica College
-Downtown Santa Monica

Personally, I think it should be "Westwood Blvd/Rancho Park" so to not confuse people into thinking they're in Westwood, but that's me.

And the Gold Line extension will be:

-Arcadia
-Monrovia
-Duarte/City of Hope
-Irwindale
-Azusa Downtown
-APU/Citrus College

Great news! I lived in S. Pasadena and Pasadena for years and hated that the Gold Line ended east in Pasadena (Sierra Madre Villa Station). I am glad it is being extended.

Good point. Personally, I am a map nerd so it really doesn't matter what they call the stations, I am probably going to know exactly where I am... But for out-of-towners and people less familiar with LA, that could lead to some issues.

The original placeholder "Azusa-Citrus" was very ambiguous. It meant "City of Azusa-Citrus Ave." However, it just happens that there is a nearby street called Azusa Ave and a nearby unicorporates area called Citrus, too.

"APU/Citrus College" makes perfect sense--nothing to explain there.

I would prefer they just call it Bergamot and Memorial Park (I think Pasadena has that name) or Central Santa Monica rather than use street names.

Did some quick google digging and found this showing the City of Azusa's involvement in naming its stations:

Here's one from Metro with some general station naming guidelines and why the station names were selected:
