You should just live in Hollywood. Not the valley. Trust me on this one. The valley nightlife is too spread out too, so you cant really barhop like you can in Hollywood. And if you're willing to live in the slightly grittier part of Hollywood you'll easily get a single for 1000.

if you live in hollywood and think you need to work in the valley, it's just over the hill

I see you also have aspirations to get into the adult film industry? As an actor or behind the scenes? I'm going to warn you, as an actor, heterosexual males make very little money and aren't really in demand. Most heterosexual adult film guys start out or eventually go into gay porn, even if it's just solos, that's where the money is.

I really liked Studio City as well, although probably on the more expensive end. I'm assuming Hollywood area is cheaper because it's not considered as safe?

I do like the proximity to nightlife. Even when I was in Chicago, it was still a 20 minute drive for the good nightlife downtown but it wasn't worth it because I didn't want to be there longer. The only things close to me were sports bars and pool halls, maybe a sushi place or two.

I would like to get into the industry as a performer. To be honest, I always had dreams of the real film industry, but at this point in my life - and not having any acting experience, I realize it's probably too late. I've always wanted to be at least somewhat famous, in a desired sense, so porn is the next best thing. I would do solo, gay no (nothing wrong with that - just not for me).

What got me interested again, was reading about porn star "James Deen", who made it in porn because he was among a rare type of male in porn who appealed to women. Most porn (gay or straight), is made for males in mind.

James Deen is like one out of a million. You must have a backup plan that doesn't involve porn. Even if you get cast as a guy with a girl, the guys make far less. For gay solos, you have to be pretty darn good looking, usually.

Studio City is a little pricier than the grittier parts of Hollywood. Yes, there's plenty of nightlife there too. Just far more in Hollywood. Is the part of Hollywood I'm recommending for you less safe than Studio City? Yes. But thousands of people live there (and in worse areas) every day and get by just fine.

I understand that. It's only something I'd like to explore while I'm there. Hollywood near the 101 would be an ideal location.
