My husband and I (both 29) are moving into an apartment with his sister (23) and her boyfriend (28). I want to get on TV as a food/nutrition expert, husband is web developer, sister in law will be pursuing acting career, her boyfriend is in the navy up on weekends.

We are looking for a quiet place with outdoor space (patio/yard/roofdeck) and walking distance to great food, fun bars, shopping, and shows. We'll have 2 cars.

My husband and I are hoping to start a family, so are looking for the quietest and most baby friendly area of West Hollywood. Any help is appreciated as far as recommended areas, complexes, streets, etc.

you're in a bit of a catch 22 here. you want walkability, but also quietness. walkability comes from being relatively close to major boulevards, but quietness comes from the complete opposite. having said that, there are plenty of nice residential streets that aren't too far from the major boulevards that don't really get congested. if you look up west hollywood on google maps, try to stay at least one block away from any of the streets that are yellow in color (i.e. santa monica blvd). also, don't limit yourself to just west hollywood (not very big), the neighboring parts of LA city and beverly hills are also mostly nice and may be a better fit for you.

You can rent two-three bedroom houses in West Hollywood in your range. I wouldnt' limit yourself to West Hollywood. West Hollywood is the enclave of LA county most known for partying. But the western edge of west hollywood, close to beverly hills, is what you're looking for. Between Doheny and San Vicente south of Sunset and north of Santa Monica blvd, the area is called the norma triangle, lots of small homes, leafy streets, quiet walkable neighborhood.

Thank you for your help! I also heard that (on the opposite end of the spectrum from WeHo) that Silver Lake is nice. Is it too far out?
