Tell me about the high schools in San Gabriel, Monterey Park, Alhambra. I have acquaintances moving to LA area and with to be in Asian areas as they do not speak english well, but are concerned about kids development. I know those towns are heavily asian. But how are the high schools? Are the academics highly regarded in the state, or county. Of course math and science are important to Asians LOLZ. What about the athletics? The kids are into sports. Particularly football, soccer, and basketball.

In terms of SGV, Arcadia was ranked the highest but it also costs a lot to live there.

Out of those three, Alhambra is #1. They offer many courses the other two don't.

You can check out the school websites, they each have athletic sections.

You asked about "San Gabriel, Monterey Park, and Alhambra"... San Gabriel itself only has two high schools, Gabrielino High and San Gabriel High. Gabrielino High has a good track and field program, and their school is newer than the others. SGHS? I don't know, go look online.

Well this is a relocation forum, so I figure this is the place on the internet to look. Are those towns in LA or another place?

Yes, each of those is a city in Los Angeles County, and also in the San Gabriel Valley. Another city very close to those, also with a large Asian population, is Temple City. Temple City High School does a good job of preparing kids for college. Hopefully someone else will tell you more about the ones in your original post.

Yes, San Gabriel is a city in SGV. It's part of a cluster of cities (Monterey Park, Alhambra, Rosemead, El Monte, Arcadia, Temple City and Marino Valley) that forms a huge suburban Chinatown. In terms of school ranking, I believe Acadia is 1st, while El Monte is last. Someone can correct on that.

There's also another cluster of cities with a large Chinese population in the east SGV that your friend might want to look into also: Rowland Heights, Diamond Bar, Walnut, and West Covina.

I have included a link to a reent article about these Asian suburbs that you may want to share with you acquaintance.

Out of those schools, I believe Arcadia has the best sports.

San Marino High in San Marino has the best academics of the bunch but it's likely out the price range for most people.
