But the OP was asking that if someone had Brad Pitt looks and all the ingredients associated with success, would he have a chance. Certainly there are actors who got started real late, but most don't wake up out of their comfortable life and say hey I want to become an actor.

I know I'm going to enjoy my move to LA even if I don't get a script sold within 6 months or whatever. Because Hollywood is not the sole reason I am moving there.
That's a good mindset to have. LA offers way more opportunities than just Hollywood. I never even thought about going into architecture/urban planning until I arrived here because I noticed all the easy access to education and opportunities surrounding the field.

Writing will always just be a hobby. But you have a six month deadline? Don't you think that's a little too rushed? I mean just getting situated will probably take half that.

No, I don't have a six month deadline. I was just throwing out a number. That would be insane, because I will need that time to move out to LA, get a job, and enjoy my new surroundings.

But my end game is certainly making it big as a screenwriter/in Hollywood. And I'm not at the point where if nothing happens then oh well. It's more than just a hobby for me, more like my only career path.

IMO, your age isn't a deterrent. Besides, being 31 doesn't mean hurrying to get married. You will be glad your gf didn't come with you when you meet someone much more perfect for you. See if your former colleagues can assist you getting a good agent. Life is short. Much shorter than many believe.

Ok lets say you do move out to LA, and you dont make it as an entertainer. You still have your career to fall back on. Plus now you live in a sunny paradise. so to me its a win win situation.

Exactly. I would've moved out to LA in a heartbeat with that salary. Wouldn't even care about making it as an actor. Just living here with a comfortable salary is Hollywood itself, lol.

Dude , you know I was only kidding, right?

If OP doesn't keep up with their thread (especially in this city), after a while, it is all fair game!

I could probably sit here for an hour and watch those bananas go at it

Just curious, do you do screenwriting or just general writing?

I am still not sure just how convenient my work from home schedule really would be. I have heard day jobs are tough to keep for the trying actor because of last minute auditions and even small gigs taking up enough time to keep you from fulfilling the responsibilities of your day job. Working from home gives me flexibility in that regard, but certainly not immunity from unemployment.
