Very cool. Looking forward to seeing that.

Also, for the original poster, You might be able to use google maps to see North Hollywood delineated, then Valley Village Delineated, etc and then you could just take all these pieces and form one big piece.

gives you the big pie as long as all the pieces were truly part of the "original North Hollywood".

Here is a L.A. Times article written in 1991 about the name change:
I never knew that neighborhood wasn't part of Studio City. According to the article, neither did most of its inhabitants in 1991.

Interesting article . I agree with what the lady said in 1991 people don't want to fix things , they just want to change their name. I bet many of the people that are buying in valley village or studio city today probably wouldn't even believe you if you told them it used to be called north Hollywood .

L.A. oral history and L.A. history in general is fascinating.

Keep it up, if you have more.
I think you mean Avenue 28 for that part of town.

Oh, it's all LA; just zip codes and neighborhoods.

Studio City actually is an unincorporated part of the county.

How old do you want to go? I have a 1945 Rene street atlas of L.A., the predecessor of the Thomas Guide. Can't scan it, though.

According to my Thomas Guide, it is a neighborhood within the incorporated city of Los Angeles.

Here is the original map of the town of Lankershim, right before it was renamed North Hollywood. It includes all the areas of Studio City, current NoHo, Valley Village and parts of Valley Glen.

Very cool. Any chance you could point us to a higher resolution version of that so we could check out the street names?
