Betfair Hollywood Park to close after 75 years

The casino on the property will continue to operate as part of the new development. The historic track will be transformed into "3,000 new housing units, including single-family townhomes and condos; 25 acres of parkland, including a 10-acre central park; and a retail and entertainment district, anchored by a movie theatre, office space and a 300-room hotel."

I haven't been forever but used to go with family when I was younger.

Will be interesting to see how this changes Inglewood, seems like there is a ton of building going on right now.

It could be a case of build it and they will come. There will be not just housing , but also a retail and entertainment district.
It will be interesting to see what it looks like once done.

That casino parking lot is still one of the more dangerous locations in LA. I ALWAYS use valet when I play there. Maybe they can learn from Commerce which has way better external security.

Default Couldn't Hollywood Park turn into a Football Stadium?

I'm Bumping this particular thread to ask whether anyone has heard that perhaps this site would be considered for a Football Stadium. It appears there would be enough room and I think that could be more of a money regenerator (not sure if that's a word) than the proposed housing! What do y'all think?

I would still prefer DTLA because it's the center of LA county and has the most Public Transpo options. Inglewood would be 2nd then City of Industry 3rd.

The only thing about the stadium in Inglewood is that it would only be used 8-9 Sundays a year (not counting special events) and would really be all by itself unless they built a LA live like space around the stadium. Overall, DTLA for the win because it will add to the renaissance & they will re-do the convention center as well. In terms of money generator, I think a DTLA stadium would be much more profitable but I don't have any stats to back that up.

I think plans for the DTLA stadium are dead. Inglewood has more promise at this point. If the NFL returns, it's prob to COI.

They are not dead. AEG could not get an NFL team to break their lease agreement and move before the date where teams notify the league about relocation. They will have an opportunity every year before that date to try to have a team agree with AEG. People said it was dead, because 1. Tim Leiwikie got fired 2. they missed the deadline for that year. However, I have heard (rumor) that Phil Anchutz is working quietly behind the scenes to put a plan in place.

The other thing that puts DTLA in the drivers seat is that the NFL network would like a westcoast flagship headquarters right next to the new stadium. So, We'll see how it all works out.
