Just curious to know if there is a lot of white people or white families in Hawthorne. Have not been down that way since the 90s.

The 2010 Census showed that Hawthorne has a population of 27,678 white people.

Hawthorne is very diverse. It's not like Los Angeles where neighborhoods tend to be racially segregated. You'll see brown, black, and white living side by side in Hawthorne.

Wow.....I moved out in 89 to Berkeley and never make it there when I'm in LA. I was told it was ghetto, but the google map views don't look to bad. I'm going check it out next month for old time's sake.

Plenty of them. The more West you go, the more Whites you see. The Crenshaw side is more Black and Latino, right next to Gardena and then Inglewood...and this side of town has some nice areas as well. There's a "hidden" neighborhood between the 105, Imperial (the shopping center), Crenshaw, and Van Ness that I really wanted to move to...very quiet over there.

But yeah, the Marine side of Hawthorne (across from Lawndale) is diverse, but plenty Whites. The side near Aviation probably has the most Whites I've seen.

Out of 28,000 people or 280,000 people?

Hawthorne is not that big. Plus, some of those "White People" may be Hispanic because white is a skin color/race whereas Hispanic is an ethnicity, with all colors included, per the census.

If you haven't been to the area since the 90's my have things changed. White people are waaaay outnumbered all over the LA metro. I do white people counts at the malls I go to when we come to town. And I am black so I am not saying it in a racist way.

28,000 white people in Hawthorne would be 1/3 of the population. That seems high to me.
