So, yeah, I know it's normal to have 100+F temps inland from L.A. for a couple/few weeks (and on the odd day) in the summer, that's nothing new.

However, this year I'm hanging on by a thread because electric went up, so I'm trying not to turn on my AC until 8-9PM. Have the fans going, etc. We're sort of dying over here. Any word on when the 100+ temps are going to drop? Looking on Weather Underground it seems like it will be about 10 days but they just tricked me by showing dramatically lower temps on Sept. 8...now it's 100.

Any weather buffs out there know anything about this?

Most of the time, more than a week out, the weather sites just post historical averages for that date. Once it gets closer to the date they adjust the predictions to be an actual forecast rather than just a historic avg. I'm waiting for cooler weather as well. I'm happy that I'm able to open my windows today for the first time in a week, but I know that will end in a couple of more days. Stay cool-

Okay, that makes sense. I always did wonder how they could possibly predict the weather 10 days out. Now I know: basically, they can't!

You stay cool too, fall is coming, the most beautiful weather of the year in SoCal IMO! <3

There are going to still be some hot days this month.

In fact, temps are supposed to reach or exceed 100 degrees by about Thursday.

The heat is not over, but we are well past the half-way point of summer temps. Should be noticeable cooling by late-September or early-October.

The month we moved to Florida in September of 2010 there was a record heat wave in SoCal and Pasadena was 110 for about 10 days straight!

For whatever reason, the Santa Anas have never been terrible for us except one year, when branches came down.

The single-digit humidity doesn't bother me.

My skin doesn't crack. (Are you a lizard, Fontucky? On a lighter note, have you tried Eucerin? My father-in-law swears by it.)

I agree that the wildfires are terrible.

The temperatures are absolutely, positively beautiful and the trees that do change color, well, change color. (We have a lot of liquidambar in my neighborhood and throughout my city.) The kids can finally go outside for PE without panting and dying. The holidays are coming up (especially Halloween, my hands-down favorite).

Every season has its drawbacks, summer, for me, has one drawback too many in SoCal.

I live at the mouth of Cajon Canyon, one of the main birthing areas for the Santa Anas. My whole concept of the phenomenon was redefined once I moved here 9 years ago. You've got to experience 100mph NE winds, 1% relative humidity and minus 45 degree dew points to know what I'm talkin 'bout. It's utter misery.

I don't doubt that it is, Fontucky. I am sorry.
