After stumbling on this footage of the Watts riot of 1965 it got me thinking of the 92 riot and wondering if L.A could someday see another riot?

Yes.... less likely. But, most recently with the Zimmerman protest.

It has, Westwood 95, NBA 2009 2010.

I remember people with rifles and shot guns on roofs protecting stores the during the 92 riot. Considering the constant disarmament of Californians, violent riots will happen again.

Yes of course but not nearly on the same scale. Large 'hoody' areas of Los Angeles are gentrifying quickly. I'm utterly shocked by the home prices in places like Inglewood, which people are claiming is now part of the "new" West LA.

But yes, small isolated riots will happen, maybe if the Clippers win the Championship, we could see a few stores looted.

What riot happened in Westwood in 1995?

The Lakers riots were pretty miniscule affairs only confined to the vicinity of Staples.

Riots could certainly happen again, especially if the city of L.A. goes bankrupt. They happened on a small scale with the Trayvon mess.

My point was small riots seem to follow sporting event. If you've even been around a crowd, you'll see how cameras actually escalate bad behavior. I googled other Westwood riots, apparently there was another one due to "New Jack City," being oversold, that one was more damaging.

I remember that one. Had no memory of one in Westwood in '95. By that time the Village was already deserted.

That one was around the time of the Mardi Gras riots, and that was the last year UCLA had a Mardi Gras celebration.

The last riot in SoCal was last year in nearby Huntington Beach during the US Open of Surfing.

Sure, there are alot of poor disgruntle people here. Another factor can be ethnics groups that feel alienated or stuck in the lower rungs. (yes, this is more likely and dangerous than richie rich causing a mess)
