Hello, I'm new here! Thanks for reading my thread.

I am a young mother of an (almost) 2 year old. My husband will be interning near Venice Beach this summer so we are on our way from the midwest. I am completely unfamiliar with LA and the surrounding areas. Hoping you guys can help me on here. These are the things we are looking for:

- A safe neighborhood
- Reasonable commute to Venice area
- Clean housing and area
- Not CRAZY expensive (hoping for $2500/mo or less..)

Please let me know if you have any advice for me! Needing a short term lease has proved to be a problem but if I can just have a direction of where I should be looking that would help a lot.

Thank you!!

are you ok with a 2br apartment? if so, you'll have a lot more options within a reasonable commuting distance of venice.

We are actually okay with a 1br. It's just for a few months so it would be nice to save a little $$!

I think just in general, the closer you are to the ocean, the more expensive it would be.

Marina Del Rey has a LOT of apartments that are run by companies including Oakwood housing (Oakwood.com) which specializes in short term (short term is REALLY pricey because you are renting month to month and getting an entirely furnished apt....its hard to get an unfurnished apt for a few months, so to get a 3 month lease (for example) its going to be pricey, but you should look around and see what they have to offer.

If you arent in love with Oakwood and their prices, i would still suggest to search Marina Del Rey, someone might be able to work with you on lease terms.

Take a look on VRBO in Venice, Santa Monica, the Marina, Mar Vista, West LA, and Culver City. There are quite a few places on there that are rented by the month or that give reasonable rates for a longer term rental. Do it now, though, as lots of places book up for the summer right around now.

Yea, I also recommend both Air B n B and VRBO for monthly options.
