did a search, but didn't find quite what I want....thanks for your help with this....

visiting this week (weekday) and need/want to use the red line into DTLA from end of the line at NoHo...staying near BUR and can drive over to NoHo, but don't want to navigate DTLA....

Metro website says there are several hundred free parking spots and some reserved pay ones at NoHo station....is it a snowball's chance in Hell I'll be able to get one of the free spots about 10am on a weekday or are they utterly full by 6am??!!.....other ideas on this??...Universal is also a possibility??

also, what ticket plan is best for this out-and-back round-trip being done all in one day?....ticket machines are at the NoHo station to buy from?.....

will be walking around seeing the historic stuff near Pershing Square....

as an aside, can anybody suggest a locally-owned, healthy (protein) lunch spot near Pershing?....I'm able to walk many blocks and don't mind doing it....maybe a chicken bowl/brown rice/vegie sort of place

thanks for your help....

I'm not sure how close you are to the BUR airport, but they have a free shuttle that goes from there to the NoHo station: New free shuttle between Bob Hope Airport and North Hollywood Metro station - Los Angeles Times

Parking is going to be challenging at that time of day. To your point, you might try going there by car and if there aren't any spots, then there's the Universal City stop with additional parking about 2 miles south on Lankershim.

All stations have ticket machines. Now you have to purchase a $1 tap card that is reusable for the future. You can add money online or at the station. I recommend you get a day pass. It's the same price as 2 trips (Back and forth).

In my opinion there is parking by 10am because people come & go all day long.
You can, even park on the street a few blocks over, but might be a bad idea if you have an especially nice car. The Metro Lot is semi-patrolled.

It's $1 for the debit TAP card, $1.50 per ride or a few dollars for a day pass.

For food, I recommend Grand Central Market on 3rd & Hill, just 1.5 blocks north of your Pershing Square. Eggslut, Wexler Deli, and Horse Thief BBQ are the hot spots in GCM, but there are many more yummy choices.

If you were planning on hitting the Bradbury Bldg, you were prolly going that way anyways.

Keep in mind that the Red line can get crowded and plan your trip accordingly. If you go during rush hour you may not get a seat.

I been there by 10:30 and no free spots at all. But there are other spots where you can park by 11am, and there is plenty of those.

In my experience on weekdays you need to get there by 7:30am or 8:00am at the latest to find a spot. 7:00 to 7:30am to be on the safe side.

thanks to all for the advice....

found out there's a "Burbank Bus" (blue bus) that makes circuits thru parts of Burbank and then heads over to the NoHo redline station....costs a buck each way and only runs weekdays at rush hours....very convenient from my hotel near BUR....so I didn't have to try to park at the station

very easily bought a tapcard and daypass in one transaction at the station for $6.....

sooo: worry-free travel to DTLA and back today....

found a friendly and nice little place in the Market for a very good breakfast sandwich, something like Jose Gaviano's (that's not quite right)....Eggslut looked a little too hip for me!....in addition to the Market, checked out Bunker Hill, El Pueblo, Union Station, 7th St, Bradbury Building, a quick view of one corner of LA Live, and other nooks and crannies....

great little visit....thanks again
