Hello everyone,
I might move to LA next year for professional reasons. My workplace would be located in Santa Monica, and while it looks great, this area seems quite expensive rent wise. I have a wife and baby, so I'll be looking for a 2 bedrooms appartment in a safe area (i want my wife to be able to walk out alone anytime without worrying)
My budget would be 2000$ per month for the rent, and I'm willing to commute 45mn between home and work.
I guess I don't need too worry about schools yet, so it's not a criteria.
I don't have a preference between residential/commercial/touristic areas, as long as it feels safe.
Do you have any advices for the places I should be searching for ?
Your help is very appreciated

My apologies, I read too quickly. Here are some possibilities that are not too far from Santa Monica and have 2 bedroom apartment listings on Craigslist for less than $2,200:

- Culver City
- West LA, particularly north of Olympic Boulevard and west of the 405 freeway
- Mid-city, north of Pico Boulevard and east of Fairfax Avenue. (I have several friends who lived here when their children were born, and they were quite satisfied with the area - at least before their kids were old enough to begin worrying about schools.)

Culver city is very family-friendly. I have colleagues raising kids there and they love it. Short commute to Santa Monica as well.
