Mauna Kea is in the tropics; therefore, Mauna Kea has a tropical climate? Not necessarily.

Ok, I am painting a stark contrast. But Glendale and certain parts of Irvine are very similar in climate, nearly identical.

Glendale is at the juncture of the San Fernando and San Gabriel Valley and has exposure to the LA basin to the south giving it a relatively "mild" climate as compared to the SFV's hot spots like Woodland Hills.
