I like this city, it's really walkable and it feels safe; it seems different from most of the cities in Los Angeles, it has its own world, I know it's not perfect or the ideal urban city but I think it's one of the best.

A video about Glendale:

I remember walking into a Coffee Bean with my roommate 6 years ago when we were searching for apartments and every Armenian in that place stared at us we walked in. No thanks to that city.

Very enjoyable video, very nice and walkable downtown. I remember as a youngster growing up in LA and going to Glendale with my psrents; we were not exactly welcomed visitors back then in the 50s and 60s.
I'm sure the demographic is somewhat different now. When I move back to California, I should move into Glendale/Montrose just because I can.

What do you mean about not being welcomed visitors? Just curious . Must of been hard to experience that.

I've seen a lot of different ethnicities there, not only armenians... and I find the city very welcoming.

I live in Glendale and most people are about as friendly and welcoming as anywhere else. Granted, some Armenians are not that friendly, but others are. Besides, I don't live here for the people, I like the various restaurants, the cleanliness and I find it to be very walkable.

Glendale's walkability is somewhat deceptive - it's population is double that of Burbank IIRC. Given its size that definitely makes for some congestion. And the way people drive in Glendale you had better be real careful before crossing the street. I found the Armenian/Persian, etc. folks perfectly nice but wow are they supreme a-holes behind the wheel.

Glendale of the 50s and 60s was a different place than today. Black folk were not welcomed.

I've since lived in many places around the world, and ignorance on its own does not dissuade me from living life to its fullest.

As I previously stated Glendale looks quite lovely. Since I've not been there in many years (very young child), and at that time I picked up on my parent's discomfort.

Don't forget the comical levels of homophobia in that community, blaring middle eastern music, and aggressive drivers. Oh, you hit that point.
