Actually, from my time at In-N-Out, I heard that it was a biker by the name of "Animal" that ordered his burgers this way. Hence the name.

Hmm, could be. So, perhaps In-N-Out did not come up with the name. However, they now own the rights to that name. If you will notice on the In-N-Out website, "animal style" is trademarked (hence the "R" enclosed by a circle by the name meaning it is a registered trademark). I know some of you don't care. Just the nerdy lawyer side of me (and the fact a couple of days I attended a seminar discussing trademarks).

Don't have the specific hankering for burgers usually, but do have it for in-n-out occasionally whereas most times any decent burger will do.

Regular order for me is a double with onions, extra lettuce and extra tomato. Fries extra crispy with spread on the side. An arnold palmer. It's sort of perfect for me.

This is the oddest sub-thread I've ever clicked through. "Who came up with the name, darn it?"

In-N-Out

(Although I love The Habit, too, as a matter of fact, and even encourage people to eat there when they visit California. It's just that INO is an institution.)

So everyone should eat at In-N-Out because it's a legacy in California? That doesn't sound right.
