I am going to be attending MI in the fall and I am currently in the apartment search. I am originally from Southern Illinois but have spent the last year in St. Louis, so I'm not completely unfamiliar with how city life works. Any recommendations on apartments with resonable prices where I won't be afraid to leave my apartment?

Thanks!!

It's not really that simple. The South Bay is one of the safest and most affluent parts of LA County and that's all south of the 10. Culver City's a nice area and that's south of the 10. Chatsworth, Northridge, Porter Ranch, and West Hills, although absolutely boring in my opinion, are nice areas that are north of the 101.

Don't move to South Central LA or Compton and you'll be fine.

Oh please, have you lived anywhere else besides the westside?

I don't know what MI is either....

How much can the OP spend on rent? Check out the LAPD website and it will give crime statistic by the L.A. regions to give you an idea (I think it only goes up to a week though).

MI = Musicians Institute

As for the OP's original question, some of the best songs are about tough times, gritty situations, being down and out, and life on the wild side...

Wouldn't living in the "bad" parts of LA be inspiring?
