Hello, Situation : I currently work in Irvine and once my boyfriend graduates he will be working in LA (film industry). We want to live together so we are looking at areas between OC and LA. We are open to apartments, townhomes, condos, houses and can afford around $1500/month. Although we have a couple friends that might also live with us and in that case we could afford more. We would like a safe neighborhood and, if at all possible, not have to worry too much about parking. Questions :

Long Beach is best. Belmont Shore is a fun area. People will tell you parking is bad there but you can get places with parking. Plus on the weekend you won't drive anywhere. Everything is within walking distance.

LB to LA is a brutal drive and so is LB to Irvine. However, it doesn't really matter where you live between the two, it is going to suck both ways. Not to rain on your parade, but depending on where your boyfriend will be working, you may want to consider living by a metrolink or MTA station.

My advice is to look for a new job. Seriously. There's no easy solution for this...except the LB suggestion which is still brutal. Do you want to spend your life commuting?
