I guess this is the result of getting your 'information' - *cough* - from John & Ken. It wasn't a matter of council members pulling this belief out of thin air. In 2002, the United States Supreme Court ruled in United States v. American Library Ass'n, Inc., that adults can insist that filtering software on public libraries be disabled, thus allowing them to view whatever is available online. And in case you're wondering, the majority + concurrences in that case consisted of Chief Justice Rhenquist and Justices Scalia, Thomas, O'Connor, Kennedy, and Breyer.

And you're outraged because city council members declined to ignore the Supreme Court? More likely, you have no idea about the facts in this case, because two doofuses on the radio simply told you that 'The LA city council voted for porn!' and you took that at face value.

They played this report:

https://www.nbclosangeles.com/invest...457908963.html

What information in the report is incorrect?

And furthermore, the city council voted on it. Why would there be a vote if local municipalities did not have a say in the matter? Does it make sense to you that the issue would even come to the floor if there was nothing the city of L.A. could do in regards to the matter?

Seems like somebody other than Joel Grover is pulling their facts out of thin air...

Symbolism. Virtue signaling, the only thing the city of L.A. seems to know how to do anymore.

When they do that, such as Rosendahl's initiative to oppose Dubya's war, they're usually playing to their base. In this case I doubt most of their base, as demented as they may be, approve of people exposing children to hard core porn.

I may be wrong but I don't believe there ever were any "filters" on the computers at the LA libraries. I questioned that once and a librarian admitted they have an issue with people coming in and watching it. Not good as there are kids around.

The federal us supreme court has upheld pornography as freedom of speech. The facts are the facts. Sorry, but you cant make your own rules Trumpkins.

(im not supporting it one way or the other. Im stating reality which you need to attempt to accept with your own brain).
