Hi everyone,

How is living in Santa Barbara? Is it comparable to living in Santa Monica?

Thanks to who will address my question

Not even remotely close. Santa Barbara is an old country feeling town near some water, with some red tile roofs. It's small, isolated as can be, dark and rundown. It's ok for a weekend and completely overrated to live. The beaches are the worst in the state, the people are absolute wackos, there is a massive homeless and insane person infestation and it's full of illegals and geriatrics. It's also home the worst drivers in America. Easily. Don't come here buying into the whole "American Riviera" thing. SB has much more in common with Mexico than it does Monaco. It's a very hispanic and industrial town anywhere off the water. Santa Monica is a vibrant city with all the latest and greatest, far nicer beaches and water and it's close to anything you could ever want. It does however have it's fair share of homeless as well. Unless you're an anti-everything person like the NIMBYs in SB, pass on Santa Barbara. It's going downhill fast. People will argue and criticize this post but trust me, I'm not wrong. I've lived here for 10 years and it's the most poorly run place I've ever been and I've been and lived in a lot of places all over the world.

Not even close.

Two completely different vibes and Santa Monica's just blows compared to SB.

Irvine is the future of the modern suburb. Santa Barbara needs better infustructure like 14 lane freeways, better street lighting, and a Metrolink station that expands from Ventura/Oxnard but ends in LA Union Station. A couple business midrises to form a decent low density skyline wouldn’t hurt ether.

This is a joke I assume?

Yeah, I don't get the "dark" comment, either and I've been to both places.

In all the years I've ever been to Santa Barbara, I have never seen any of this.

It does have it's dumpy section, but doesn't seem that bad to me. Seems very exaggerated.
