I was walking through Brentwood and North Santa Monica recently, and was astounded at how much dirt was on the sidewalks. We're overdue for rain, but still, I can't remember ever seeing so much dirt on the sidewalks.

Soot is basically dirt. But maybe just the Santa Anas blowing dirt around too. When the fire was burning in Sunland the lobby of my office building in Burbank was completely covered in dirt/soot. Looked like dirt to me but obviously it coincided with the fire...which was also a very windy day

I'm referring to brown dirt, not soot.

everything's covered in dirt from the wind. I had to hose off my whole backyard. I keep hoping for rain....
