Probably it depends on your line of work, the area of CA, and where you're moving from. California's job market looks pretty darn great to us.

Depends on the particular industry, but overall, it's not that great. Just about every company in my area is reducing staff.

Government employees are losing jobs left and right. Almost everything has slowed to a crawl. You might be okay with an executive level job or at the other end of the spectrum a minimum wage ($8 per hr) or almost minimum wage job.

My best educated guess is that any industry or job that is directly related to services for seniors, esp in healthcare, will be the growth industries and jobs over the next 10 -15 years. The baby boomers are retiring and getting old.

Consider this a better bet. Retail and restaurants are easier to get than office jobs.

Getting an office job in LA if you don't know someone is like winning a lottery ticket.

Others will tell you different, but if:

1) You don't have a job waiting for you when you get here or 2) someone who can hook you up with one or put in a good word for you it will be very hard going for employment. Even teachers are having problems finding jobs and usually these jobs can be had anywhere.

If you currently work for a company that has offices or locations in LA, then your best bet is to transfer from that position here.
