Apparently it's gotten worse since the pandemic started.

"Drug use is rampant in the Metro system. Since January, 22 people have died on Metro buses and trains, mostly from suspected overdoses — more people than all of 2022. Serious crimes — such as robbery, rape and aggravated assault — soared 24% last year compared with the previous.

“Horror.” That’s how one train operator recently described the scenes he sees daily. He declined to use his name because he was not authorized to talk to the media."

Opinion: L.A.’s half-empty, crime-ridden Metro trains don’t have to stay that way:

It'll be interesting to see if the opening of the regional connector further accelerates ridership gains. I expect they'll probably have to work out some operation kinks at the beginning, but it'll ultimately be a pretty big boon.

The really big boon though will likely come from the Purple Line (D line) extension into the Westside, first to Beverly Hills (next year), then to Century City (2025), and finally to Westwood and the VA (2027) where they'd likely pick up a lot more ridership due to UCLA.

The K Line doesn't go to SoFi.

This, from the same geniuses who built the C Line to not go to LAX and who have built the K Line to still not go to LAX!

The geniuses are building the People Mover that will serve parking and rental lots around LAX.
Though, the People Mover is free; each parking ticket will add $1 into the pockets of the geniuses to reimburse the construction charges of the People Mover.

E West ITF Economy parking, LAX City Bus Center, hotel shuttles, access to Airport Bl
F East ITF Parking Lot: E, access to Aviation Bl., future connection to K Line (2024)
G CONRAC Consolidated rental car center

There will be both K and C line stations literally called "LAX/ METRO TRANSIT CENTER STATION" opening. It also happens to be a potential end point for Sepulveda Pass line.

There is also a free Metro shuttle from the Hawthorne/Lennox C line station to SoFi. Its free, so technically you can take the Metro so SoFi.

The article says residents offered LAX to buy their homes due to noise problems.

It's a stupid thing to build LAX in a very desirable place near the ocean. There will be expansion and noise problems.

I was in Istanbul recently. Turks build a new airport far away from the city. The airport is huge. Taxis are cheap. There is a subway line.

The first murder on the K Line happened near Slauson Ave.

If you want to go to LAX, it's better to take a Flyaway bus instead of riding this line through dangerous areas.

I’ve been riding the Green (C) line to LAX for almost 30 years and have never had a problem. I hope that some of these people that are so scared never use public transportation anywhere, lol
