The Chinese would've already demolished everything and started pouring concrete.

It seems we are going to try to repair first. I guess that it is the faster option and any collapse is more likely to fall into the laps of future elected leaders than the current bunch before term limits apply

Newsom made the trash, feces and homeless disappear from SF this week with Xi visiting. SF actually looks like a decent city again. The streets are clean and safe again. Meaning, allowing the homeless druggie crime garbage is and has always been a choice.

Why doesn't he do the same in LA?

Why does the CA government show more respect for a foreign communist dictator than for its own tax paying residents?

Because its only temporary until the dignitaries leave. Los Angeles had a similar sweep for the 1984 Olympics.

LAPD kept the full court press on gangs after the Olympics, which was a contributor to the riots.

CIA putting crack cocaine on the street in a manufactured drug war didn't help matters much either.

Washington Post via MSN: "L.A. freeway will be repaired, reopened in 3 to 5 weeks, Newsom says"

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/l-...14fe9e93&ei=11

Personal note: I was on that stretch of the 10 that's currently closed (as a car passenger) during my summer 1981 Arizona/Cali vacation. The closest up that I've seen of downtown L.A.'s skyline (I never went through the 4-level nor did I see the Hollywood sign . But I did do Disneyland and the surf in Santa Monica. Hardly spent time on the pier for some reason though.).

Inglewood cleaned up in 1984 because the Forum was an Olympic venue.

They will do it again for 2028 because of SoFi (which might hold the Opening and closing ceremonies) and the Forum (gymnastics).
