How do I get from North Hollywood Metro Station to Cal State Northridge using public transportation?
Around how long is the trip? Is the public transportation between these locations fairly reliable?

Thank you.

Maybe the Orange bus expressway will get you fairly close.

Orange line to Reseda and then there are a few lines up Reseda that will take you to Nordhoff. As for reliability, unfortunately Reseda can get pretty clogged up (especially going back in the afternoon)... and I'd guess you would have to budget 1.5 hours for the trip. But I don't know of much better options... since all of the bus routes pretty much go vertically and horizontally you are stuck with routes that go too far out of the way and change at least once.

Metro Maps

You can get some other route suggestions with

socaltransport.org | Metro Bus and Rail Trip Planner for Los Angeles and surrounding Counties

For instance From: 'red line north hollywood' and To: 'nordhoff and reseda' gives a few other routes, but I wouldn't trust any of those 30-60 min time figures they give at all unless you tried it yourself.

Wow, that long? I was hoping for an hour at most . I thought the valley was a little more connected in terms of public transportation.

From North Hollywood catch the Orange line to Reseda. Catch one of the 'Red' Rapid Metro Buses and take it to Nordhoff. Its about a 35min trip..maybe a little less. All Metro Buses run either North to South or West to East in the valley. Its really simple to get around.

No, its not a 1.5hr trip. From CSUN to Downtown on MTA is about an 1.15hrs.

Bring a bike. Metro supports them and you have more options in terms of pick up/drop off points. That can shave quite a bit of time, esp if there is a transfer involved...
