It shook my house pretty good, rattled the windows, etc... My 5yo daughter asked if it was an earthquake.

I live up by San Luis Obispo.

i missed it this time, i always look forward to hearing the shuttle re-enter earth's atmosphere.

kinda gives me the feeling that i witnessed something important from a distance.

i usually hear them when they return in the am hours but i think there's just too much traffic in the city for me to hear it when everyone's moving around.

The sonic booms are caused by (different locations on) the shuttle slowing down and transitioning through the speed of sound.

We tried to get on base to see the landing this morning, but they were turning all away because of the ongoing investigation into the crash of the T-38 earlier this week. We settled in right outside the base limits and couldn't see much at all because we were so far away. We did hear the booms, though they weren't as loud as at the previous landing we saw.

That makes me feel a little better about not having made it up to Edwards to see it...I was beating myself up pretty bad given that there's only a few landings left, this was on a weekend, and there's no telling how many more will land at Edwards!
