"Come to Venice and sleep in your car and get rich" ... Wow
The court system is insane and wasting so much taxpayer money on these payouts brought on by opportunistic lawyers .

OMG...yet another step closer to being Kolkata, India.

High real estate prices aside, Venice is filled with renters, and from the looks of things, most do not seem to be very high earners.

The westside in general is filled with renters. The only westside areas with homeowner majorities are Culver City and Westchester.

There was a recent article about how the big tech companies are changing Venice in a way .
A lot of the long time artists were upset , but one can't be a renter and expect to live in an area at the same rent forever. The signs of Venice getting more and more expensive shouldn't be a big shocker for anyone that even casually looked at real estate prices.

I think it would be great if these artists found another part of town to make into an artistic community . Likely not anything close to the beach but perhaps in the valley area . The arts district scene in downtown is growing but rents there are likely as high or higher than Venice beach .
Boyle heights seems to have a good chance of gaining more artists because of the relatively low housing prices and rents . Although those are going up they are still much less than Venice .
It's all relative of course .

You can say that again.

As for the claim Oakwood hasn't changed in 45 years, not only fewer gangs and more homeless but also ethnic demographics have changed....

Downtown's high but not as high as Venice. Very few places are.
It would be great if the artists headed into the Valley - plenty of space and much lower rents. Although I think they'll go to Boyle Heights first.

Yeah I agree. The valley could use more of an arts scene. It's a huge area with millions of residents.
Will be interesting to see what happens for sure. Whether artists priced out chose to move to cheaper places in L.A or decide to move out of the area or state entirely.

I looked at your link, and I found another story that saying this shooter was a hitman hired by a hotel owner.
Sounds like the hotel owner hired this guy to kill the homeless.

Witnesses: Hotel Owner Ordered Gunman To Fatally Shoot Homeless People On Venice Beach « CBS Los Angeles

It just seems this situation is getting worse. I could see being a business owner and being frustrated with the homeless loitering around your property...but of course violence is not the answer.
Something needs to be done...it seems these types of incidents are happening and more frequently, and tensions are rising.

I don't think there'd be as many tensions if the LAPD actually did their job and if things weren't left to get so out of control.
