Venice is one of my favorite spots to hang out in Los Angeles and would like to move there someday.

What is the area predominantly considered in terms of class?

venice is a mixed bag, you can't really call it anything specifically. it is definitely one of the most diverse areas of LA. in fact, it's the only place i've ever been in LA where people of all different colors live within the same neighborhood in such large numbers. there aren't many places in LA (minus the business districts during the lunch hour) where you'll see such different types of people all walking down the same streets at the same times.

It all depends on the part of Venice, too. Different neighborhoods have different feels. Rents are high and real estate is among L.A.'s priciest. Those little beach shacks go for a cool mil now, where they were going in the $200Ks back in the 90s and the $100Ks before that. Old hippies and surfers live next to creatives and the industry elite. It all works out, because Venice is pretty laid back and people who live there enjoy the artsy, casual go-with-the-flow vibe. I love Venice-- lived there for years.

Venice is eclectic. Good parts and ratty parts with 800,000 + condos and homes.

That's true. Even the ratty parts come with close to a $1 million price tag... and have for about five years now.

I would say, freaky but others would say culturally diverse.. money wise, certainly not simply middle class....

Being a tourist is diff. than real life.. I visited Venice as a tourist and all the touristy shops along the beach were appalling to me. Hell I'd rather see a bunch of chains stores than rows and rows of pitiful blah blah blah worthless junk shops.

my 2 cents.

I'm wondering whether peopel who live hter even GO to the bEACH.

Venice doesn't really have any class.

Abbott Kinney? The Canals? Joe's? Hal's? The walk streets?

If your idea of Venice is watching the guy juggle the chainsaw or shopping for tacky t-shirts, you are in the wrong part of Venice. And the locals are happy to keep it that way, because the worst part of Venice is all the tourists. And the parking.
