I am looking to move to California (Near Los Angeles) in the coming year or so and am wondering how the job market is for EMT-B's and/or EMT-I's?

It depends. Most SoCal fire departments operate their own EMS system, which includes transporting capability. L.A. County FD still operates rescue squads and rely on private ambulances for 9-1-1 transport. Most ambulance companies perform interfacility transports, utilizing EMT I-A personnel. There has always seemed to be enough turnover in personnel as a lot of private ambulance employees get hired on by fire departments. That has slowed considerably due to the lousy economy. However, Glendale Fire Department just hired a dozen non-sworn EMT-I's to staff their BLS ambulances. So, the opportunities are out there. Just make sure you have your National Certification.
