The best thing about the Banana Republic is that you are living in the State of Humidity.
It is good for you. Some folks pay for a sauna. We just walk outside.

The people--there is no one in this whole country like a Louisianian. They are the Original Old School, Groovy Kind of People. I am proud of the way I was raised here, and I am proud to be a native of this state.
The food--rich, spicy, soul satisfying. Sweet here is SWEET, (whether you're talkin about the iced tea or the males here, oh! those Southern men! but I digress) Your tastebuds will be like a kid in a candy store on a daily basis. Real big on red pepper here. Hope you like it!
The natural beauty--the foggy, misty mornings on the Cane River, the smell of magnolia and honeysuckle blossoms, the setting and rising sun, the sweet smell of grass in the pastures, and the clean, clean smell of the summer rains...If you're not an outdoorsy kind of person, this place might make you one.
And for me, most of my family is here to share all these lovely things with--a big

You took the words right out of my mouth!! Meche's donuts beats Krispy Kremes HANDS DOWN!!

Hmm....I left Louisiana a few years ago but there are a few things that I miss about the place.

--Crawfish
--the festivals
--MARDI GRAS
--I have some really great friends back home....I haven't met people quite like them.
--Zydeco music

I know! Anywhere else..people would think it's crazy...but there! When I visit, (frequently, lately) I hit this place that makes the best, I think, and next door there's a Popeye's (my favorite) How much is a girl supposed to take?

I can't believe I didn't see live oaks listed! Especially the ones at Oak Alley...absolutely gorgeous.

The springs and falls here can't be beat.

Everyone else listed enough for me.

And x3 on Meche's donuts.
