Wow, Seattle is doing something similar with their waterfront downtown.

Those rendering are a little generous huh? Looks amazing and hopefully gets fully built out. Will transform the lake.
How's the water? Do people regularly swim there? A beach with imported sand would be really nice.

It does look amazing! The water.......I personally wouldn't swim in it but surprisingly many people do. That said, it's more for boating and wave runners.

A closed off section where the water is filtered could probably work well. Or maybe an actual pool built in the lake.

A filter wouldn't be bad, but how would it be implemented? How would a pool be built in the lake?

Filtered Lake in Madison:
County walls off water near new beach to keep it clean | Local News | host.madison.com

I would imagine that the pool would be similar to:

This is just an example, it would have to be much larger of course.

MYTH BUSTED: Your example in Madison is not a crystal clear sparking pool as the picture shows.

The people of Lake Charles pride themselves on not wasting tax payer money. A filtering system for our Lake is absurd. A better idea would be to use the time we have wasted reading about this to solve the budget issues created by the people in Baton Rouge.

Here is the actual photo from the new story:

Oh, well I tried.

I'm not sure if this turned in to a bash Baton Rouge post or not but the politicians are from all over the state, including people from Lake Charles.

When a forum thread about Lake Charles, decomposes into posts about filtering our lake into a blue abyss any logical outside observer would call it bashing the city.

Thank goodness no one is discussing cleaning up the Mississippi river in Baton Rouge! The levee board there has certainly wasted enough tax payer money to do so!
