Where is the best Walmart in the whole Louisville area? We're looking for the nicest, cleanest, best selection of merchandise, safest parking lot, lowest hoodlum count at night, etc.

May not help much but I prefer the one in Elizabethtown. The only knock is no self-checkouts.

When remodeled to add groceries in about 2004, the LaGrange store was recognized as the largest Walmart in KY. I don't shop there very often any more, but I still do occasionally. No political issues, just not convenient. I think it's still one of the best I have ever shopped in.

The super Walmart on Bardstown road (I-265 and Bardstown) is fairly new and has a 'low hoodlum' count. I don't think it's even been robbed yet even though the Interstate provides a fast getaway. Hope this works for you.

Fast getaway? Maybe in the middle of the night. Any other time and the traffic there is a big headache.
I vote for the Middletown WM. Most likely the nicest and cleanest in town plus there's a new Target next door.

I was gonna say I preferred the Middletown WM, because it was the nicest and cleanest too!!! hahaha great minds think alike! Only trouble is, it's not all that convenient for me when I visit home.

I shop more at Target here in Oz, than any other store. Big W would be second most.
OT, but Big W, owned by Woolworths, might as well be a non-Supercenterised Wal-Mart.....EXACT same yellow smiley-face dude on "rollback" price signs, workers wear blue shirts or vest/smocks, even laid out like a typical Wal-Mart store, sans groceries, automotive repairs, and the extra shops up front........everything same same same. Before I found out it was owned by Woolies, I thought it was actually a Wal-Mart owned place!

Woolworths huh? That's interesting. I know they quit operating in the U.S. as Woolworths and changed the corporate name to Footlocker, Inc. That would be good for another alternative from Walmart.

Yeah, I was surprised too, as I thougth Woolworths had actually gone under. hmm.
So....if they're saving money by not hiring people to stock the shelves.....then how are the shelves getting stocked? If the shelves aren't stocked, people can't buy stuff. Hmm, seems like their money saving scheme in combination with their revenue decreasing results, might leave them in the same sinking boat..???
You know, just me observing what I would think would OBVIOUS.
I guess they have the other staff stocking the shelves in between checking out customers, or operating the money centre.
How does that work?
And I'm not surprised about the prices going up, especially not with the current economy issues. Quietly, a little at a time, and before you know it, even Wal-Mart is unaffordable.

I agree - the Walmart in La Grange is the best stocked....although the one on Bashford Manor has great flowers...that is where I go to buy red roses for the Kentucky Derby Party that my friend has every year - I can get beautiful red roses for $10 a dozen. That area is a bit scary though.
We go to Walmart once in a while - it really isn't convenient and the one closest to us is not our favorite.
