I'll be moving to Macon next week and was wondering if there are any recycling drop-off centers for aluminum cans, plastic bottles, and cardboard. I noticed that the city only picks up paper products, but since I'm used to recycling more than just that, I'd like to keep in the habit.
Welcome to Macon. While the recycling program leaves a lot to be desired, I think you will enjoy it here.
You can recycle many other materials at Macon Iron and Scrap located in the downtown industrial district collects most metals and plastics. They even pay you for the metal!!! They have a website, just google macon iron and it is the first return.
The Happy Hour School for special needs children in Warner Robins has a recycling center on N. Young Avenue. The profits are used to help support the school. So when you happen to be in Warner Robins, please make a stop.
THe Macon Scrap Company has a recycling place that pays cash for your cans it is located on the corner of Edgewood and Seventh Street, near the end of Eisenhower parkway. Last I checked it was up to 75 cents a pound.
Macon Scrap also has household drop-off (glass, plastic, aluminum, paper) where the money collected is donated to charity. Just drive up, toss your stuff in marked dumpsters, drive off.
We don't generate enough cans to wait in line for $3. Worth it in college, but not now.
sgjennin I hope your move is the best experience of your life, I would gladly like to help with any questions or problems you have, and today is First Friday and there is alot going on downtown, involving music and the arts, I hope to see you out there as its going to be a ball.
Lotta places no longer accepting plastics to recycle in 2016. So, does Macon Scrap/Iron still accept it? Thanx.
