A special panel on the force structure of the Air Force is recommending that the U.S. Air Force Reserve, which is HQ'd at Robins, be eliminated. This would be a huge blow to Robins and Middle Georgia. Report recommends eliminating Robins reserve command
Also the election results of the November union vote were thrown out. Not a lot of good news for Robins right now. Robins union election thrown out
It will be interesting to see how the AF reserve command thing plays out. I hope we don't lose them, but the wording was so strong in the report I dont know if it can be saved unless Congressman Scott can make something happen...and he seems to be all talk so far IMO...this will be his test to see if he can truly work for Robins.
As far as the union elections go, I hate that. The old union leaders needed to go. They created the us vs. Them culture that divided and destroyed the workforce cooperation on the base. Some mgmt is overbearing, I get it, but the old union fought to keep people employed who were dead weight and justifiably would have been fired years ago and viewed all managers as the enemy. They were terrible. Not an environment that was productive and the numbers at Robins under the old union proved how unproductive it was when you compare them to the other ALCs. Robins is a huge part of our economy and productivity numbers matter when BRAC comes and it will come again eventually.
Idk about the air force reserve unit, but i think the army reserve unit they built a while on 96 was a waste of money
