Since the Eisenhower Parkway is a special taxed corridor why then that something is not done to put sidewalks throughout it and around the Macon Mall on Bloomfield Road? The fact of the matter is that it is three colleges on this corridor, shopping centers on it or near it, and other venues. There's the grass median with signs that say "Stay off." It has it's share of pedestrian traffic.

Sidewalks would be nice. They are mowing the grass more often...,

I'd like to see bike trails along each side of Eisenhower with benches & the occasional tunnel under to turn around. Turn it into a real park way.

i agree with mad dog. there needs to be a bike lane. would like to see it connect to the downtown bike lanes. it needs to be done badly. i know its dangerous out there on a bike. im starting to think people in the cars really dont understand the law. you are to give a bike 3ft of space.

What ever happened to the Eisenhower Extension project? I know a little about it that's all. It was suppose to run through the Ocmulgee Indian Mounds. I think that this was the first proposed route for I - 14. Known to some as the Fall Line Freeway. This was supposed to be the longest bridge in Georgia when it got completed. I remember when construction hauled on this project in the nineties because of the Mississippi Indians didn't want the project to run through their scarce land. The Ocmulgee Indian Mounds. Now that the Ocmulgee Indian Mounds is about to become a national park I really think that the Eisenhower Extension project is dead.

Correct. The extension is officially dead. Between the Mounds and environmental concerns, it was decided to abandon it and use 16 to 75 as the path of the Fall Line Freeway through Macon.

The Eisenhower Parkway Corridor has four colleges on it. They are Helms College, Virginia College, Middle Georgia State University, and Central Georgia Technical College. Central Georgia Technical College ranks 10th nationwide as far as graduation rates of two year colleges. The Eisenhower Parkway Corridor just recently became a special taxed business improvement district. Companies along the busy Parkway pitch an idea to combat commercial blighted properties on the stretch of this road. If I recall of going through archives a section read that the western boundary was I-475 and the eastern boundary was unknown. With that in mind I don't think Helms College is included in what is called Middle Georgia Educational Corridor Business Improvement District. The extra tax only affect commercial property owners, not residential property owners. Macon-Bibb approved the tax district. Bibb leaders adopt tax hike on Eisenhower Parkway business. With that I think that it is something that needs to be developed on the Macon Mall property which is at present a very large parking lot that sits between Firestone Complete Auto Care and behind Chuck E Cheese. A lot of people talk down about the Macon Mall, but I think that it is a crown jewel when speaking of quality of life of neighborhoods that surround it in which are in walking distance. I live in walkable distance to the mall in the neighborhood of Westview. Though at 581,000 square feet the Macon Mall is one of our treasures. Shy of what it used to be when it was 1.4 million square feet and brought in 500,000 dollars annually. Macon is a medium sized city, though to large swaths of southern Georgia it is considered to be a big city.

Wow...Excellent!. You know I usually count that Specialty college by Academy sports as college #4 on Eisenhower & forget about Helms.
