Retail, restaurants, government offices, sports, entertainment, and a 10,000-person amphitheater will be coming to the #MaconMall and help lead the revitalization of the entire area. https://t.co/qEqbfheo4s

This is great, its a shame on how bad the Macon mall deteriorated.
I hope they get a good marketing company. Event venues are all about getting the best artists that the community will pay for and still fill the place. " Build it and they will come" doesn't work by itself. There are lots of underutilized amphitheaters out there. Management is key.
As for the restaurants and such, a focus on removing the blighted hotels at Eisenhower and 475 that make the area unsafe with permanent residents would help. There has been some improvement with that, but more needs to be done with more midrange hotels moving in like the Hampton Inn and Holiday Inn Express have. Hotel guests eat out. Additionally, more student housing at Middle Georgia State would focus more dining demand in the area.
