We like the Cumberland Fair. We always take an afternoon and go! We bet a few dollars on the harness racing, have a sausage sandwich, walk through the rabbit barn, the poultry barn, the swine barn and the goats, buy a piece of goat fudge, take a chance on the 4H beef critter they auction, watch the pig scramble or lamb auction,take in the exhibition hall, admire the giant pumpkins and squash, see what's new in tractors , snowmobiles and chain saws, take a look at the miniature horses, then watch the oxen or draft horse pull while enjoying some hot carnival fries with lots of salt and vinegar. It makes for a nice fall afternoon and early evening.

Thursday night is bracelet night so the kids for a fixed ticket price got to ride their brains out all night and we got a movie night at the indie movie place on Exchange Street in Portland. I remember one thursday night I was dropping the kids off and it was pouring rain. They didn't care.
