I think they should be allowed to vote. They are living here for four years and are over 18, so why not? If you move to some other state and you're over 18 you can vote. It just makes for less laws.

They can always vote absentee back where they are residents. It's easy to do.

The way i see it, Its double dipping to allow them to vote here if they can also vote in their home state.

Some colleges have turned it into an art form.

I believe that only legal residents of a particular state should be allowed to vote in that state. One person, one vote.

If a person has an in-state address and meets voting requirements.....I see no harm and a lot of potential benefit for them voting in their college community. Even if they could vote absentee in Alabama or Texas or Massachussets.....they are establishing themselves as adults and getting into the habit of voting and making a difference where they live is one that is good for the community and for the country. There is a great liklihood that they will not be returning to their parents home community.....and if they do.....they can register and vote there at that time.

Do military personnel who are stationed in Maine vote here.....or vote absentee back to the community where they lived before entering the service? I dont know the answer.....but I think there are comparable factors....
We live in a highly mobile society....it isnt like the "Days of Caesar Augustus" when you had to return to your father's town to be counted.
I think they should vote where they are. I am suspicious of attempts to limit voting rights.

I think it should be against the law for a college that is getting any government money to support any candidate or party on any level, including staff members using their position or school resources to make political suggestions to students.

This thread reminds me of what happened when i was in middle school. The towns contract with the teachers union was expiring and a bunch of teachers went to school with pig pins in support of the union and to try to get the town to renew them, looking back i think that was totally wrong for them to expose the kids to that kind of thing, they should of been fired for that... and this was in 2002 so its not like its something that happened 30 years ago.
