Looks like a family trip back to Maine in the first few weeks of Maine. Are there any must see things to check out during the month of August Festivals, concerts, sights or day trips). We will be in Waldo county , but can travel in all directions. Let me know if there are any must see or do things when we are there. Thanks.

Here, try these for starters. Also, if you like cars and such try the Owls Head Transportation Museum.

If you need to stop for the night and enjoy camping Pinderosa Camping Area is a great place [I worked security there for 5 years and know the owners very well, nice folks, and the rates aren't that bad either]

The wild raspberries will be ripe. They are then sweetest and best raspberries in the world. You can make raspberry turnovers in a reflector oven in front of a campfire. Just awesome. You can make raspberry cobbler in a Dutch oven or raspberry pancakes for breakfast. Raspberry shortcake is awesome and fresh raspberries on iced cream are very good.

Find them in recently logged areas or along power lines.

If we were to drive the coast from Belfast south to Kbunkport, what would be the "best kept secret" restuarants along the way. Kep in mind we are packing the kids, so no fancy joints for us. LOL. Also, if we were to overnight in hotels/motels which towns would be better than others? What can we expect for weather during August?

Take your pick. With gas at over $4.00 a gallon Maine will be a ghost state in August.

Is August a comfortable month to visit? Hot, humid, cooling off for the Fall season??? Maybe the price of lobsters will decrease as gas prices increase? What day trips would you recommend if starting out in the waterville area each day?

Lobster prices start a drop at the beginning of shedder season. That is around the first or second week of July.
