Now that The Cat is gone what is the best way to go from BH to Halifax? I hear the bus is out of the picture now too.

No trains either. I think that I'd try driving...

I'd take the ferry across, but I've been told it isn't running any more. Check on that, because it will give you a nice break in that drive.

Cat really is gone. You either have to fly, drive, or teleport.

We drove it back after going over on The Cat. Long drive but a nice one.

I do believe that the Ferry from St. John New Brunswick to Digby Nova Scotia is still running. The one that isn't is the one from Bar Harbor to Yarmouth. If I were doing it I would opt for the Ferry from St. Johns. It is a very long drive around. Call the St. John tourism office for more information.

Its about a 3.5 hour drive from Ellworth, ME to the Saint John Ferry as opposed to an 8 hour drive to Halifax. But the road goes to divided 4 lane highway once you enter the suburbs of Saint John, and its takes about 4 hours to go much further on the divided highway that you did on the stop and go driving of Route 1 up the coast of Maine.

Of course if the ferry stops at Digby rather than going all around Nova Scotia then its 3 hours from Digby to Halifax.

So.... Driving from Ellsworth to Halifax is 8 hours. Driving from Ellsworth to Saint John, waiting half the day and taking the 1.5 hour ferry ride is another 3-4 hours, and then driving the 3 hours to Halifax from Digby is maybe 7 - 10 hours. Compared to driving the whole distance in a straight 8 hours.

Not sure which is better: the boat ride or the car. Probably the gas is cheaper than the boat car ride. But I only ever traveled in a car ferry to Martha's Vineyard.

St John to Digby is still running. Just wondering if it is worth the money vs driving around.
