Do you have a favorite artist (present or past) that works in Maine or focuses on Maine in their work? Any medium! (Links/pictures if possible!).

I love the paintings of Jill Hoy: Jill Hoy
Love the chainsaw artist down in Hancock, too.. (Don't know his name, though...)

Wyeth ( dad and son), Rockwell Kent and many others often on exhibit in the great Portland Museum of Art.

Deerislesmile- thanks for introducing me to the work of Jill Hoy.
Such beautiful paintings and great colors! I am excited to learn more about her

Oddly, since I started this thread, I have become my own favorite artist! I stayed up all Saturday night and did this:

It's only about half done, but I think it's pretty cool. I am letting it dry before putting on the final layers and details.
(It's a lobster trap, btw...)

What got me hooked on Fairfield Porter?

Long story short…it was his brother, Eliot Porter. He was a photographer who died in 1990. His photographs are amazing.
