Ingenious (making do with few resources)

Live and let live (though there seem to be exceptions who post a lot here).

Hardy and self-sufficient, but with a strong community spirit.

Three things--I am not a big fan of three words.

The OP said" "... 3 words/sentences ..."

I maintain that 3 words, is not the only interpretation of that intent. 3 sentences would fit the OP and would remain on-topic.

Somewhere between a word and a sentence, is a phrase. So technically 3 phrases would also be allowed.

"They remain genuine and compassionate." is a complete sentence. "Hardy and self-sufficient, but with a strong community spirit" is not a complete sentence, but is a phrase. Which is still perfectly allowed.

I think that describing 3 metaphors, would generally fit within the OP's topic.

Thought I would share that after posting this on the Maine forum I was curious what type of answers I would get on my current home state of California's forum. So I posted same thing there and the answers there could not be more different than the ones I received on the Maine forum. I like the answers on here much better : ) just makes me want to move to Maine even more!

I am from California myself.

The fact that I migrated here after I retired, says it all.
