We have a small house and choose to heat with either the wood stove,or a forced hot air system[oil]...For the work shop i run a gas monitor heater...With the cost of k1 fuel at a all time highs, i think we will be burning as much wood as possible this season...Solar power would be nice if the up front costs were either lowered[ha] or offered to us on the monthly pay plan ,like the electric bills of today. How are you staying warm without breaking the bank this year???

Oil/Forced Hot Water. I locked in, paid in advance last year and watched prices plummet. This year I didn't lock in and prices have sky-rocketed to nearly $3 a gallon.

Ask me next summer whether I plan to lock in or not - and then do the opposite.

Default Our house is almost 2100 square feet...

and our primary source of heat is a 1000 gallon (buried) propane tank with a forced hot air furnace. We live in a hillside ranch (known as a daylight rancher in this neck of the woods) and have a wood burning stove downstairs in the family room. I fire up the wood stove when it's fairly cold and/or to help take the chill out of the air downstairs as well as make the upstairs floors nice and toasty. There really is nothing like the heat/warmth of wood.

We have radiant floor heat.

It is heated by propane, and/or electric, and/or our stove.

Our stove is also a big'un, 200,000btu two drum stove, it burns wood and coal and peat.

Natural gas, love it, love it , love it! Thought I'd hate it. Now I wish Maine had access because when we move back we're going to be looking at alternatives to oil.
